About the Friends

The Friends of Red Mountain Park is a group of volunteers who are united in thinking that Red Mountain Park will be a win-win situation for all of us in Birmingham. Our mission is to promote, enhance, and enjoy Red Mountain Park. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which serves as a bridge between the community and the park Commission and staff. We have strived throughout the planning process to bring all interested voices to the table. It is our hope that by the time the gates are opened, all potential users and groups will have had a chance to declare what they would like this park to include and represent.

We count among our numbers state legislators and soccer moms, business executives and frisbee golfers, conservationists and weekend warriors, residents from both nearby neighborhoods and extended suburbs. We have over 2,000 members on our email list and have led more than 1,000 people through the park on introductory hikes.

From time to time we put on fundraising events events to increase local awareness of Red Mountain Park and to attract volunteers. As the park begins to develop, the profile and membership of our organization will develop as well. If you are not yet a signed up for our mailing list, please join. If you have joined already, we thank you for your interest in Red Mountain Park and hope to see you at the park soon!

If there are any questions or feedback you have for the Friends of Red Mountain Park, please email us.
